Choosing The Right Types of Setting Powder

Translucent Powder

Translucent powders are white in color like any other powder but do not leave any white cast on the face. It sits sheer or colourless on the face and creates a natural skin look. It is a popular option among many because it sets your makeup without causing any interference to your skin tone or foundation. Translucent powder provides an oil-free and clean appearance to your makeup. It seals in the makeup and keeps it intact throughout the day or night.

Banana Loose Powder

Banana powder has quickly gained popularity due to the versatility it provides. Banana powder can be used to bake your face, set your makeup at the end, highlight high points of your face and more. It has a light yellowish color which works as a concealer to neutralize any redness on the skin. It is lightweight, blendable and keeps your makeup set for a long time. Banana powder gives you an even skin tone.

Tinted Loose Powder

Tinted powders are formulated in various skin tones and are easily blendable into the skin. It is used to set the foundation and add a touch of flawlessness. You need to choose a suitable tint that matches your skin tone and use it to set your foundation and avoid creasing. Tinted powders are long lasting and do not need frequent touch ups. You can use tinted powder without foundation too, to get an oil-free and radiant appearance.

Pressed Powder

Pressed powder is the opposite of loose powders and comes in a compact container. To use pressed powder you need to rub the surface with a brush or sponge to loosen the powder particles. Pressed powders are ideal for setting heavy full-glam and full coverage makeup looks. It can also be used as a standalone product to achieve a matte and radiant appearance. It is also available in different skin tones and is extremely suitable for all skin types.

Best Setting Powder for Your Skin Type

Oily Skin

Oily skin gets greasy and sweaty through the day which can cause your makeup to melt and fade away. Thus it needs a makeup setting powder that will create a matte finish. Oil-control Compact Powder will help prevent your foundation from creasing while also soaking up the oil on the skin. It will also help your makeup stay on your face without fading for a longer time.

Dry Skin

Dry skin can look flaky and textured with makeup on and it needs a powder that provides a smooth and hydrated finish to your skin. Banana Loose Powder is ideal for dry skin because it often contains hydrating ingredients that add moisture to the skin while also blurring imperfections and giving the skin a natural glow.

Combination Skin

Combination skin needs a balancing powder that will cater to both dry and oily areas. For this a Translucent or Tinted Loose Powder can prove to be effective in controlling oily skin and setting the foundation for a long-lasting effect. Choosing the right tint according to your skin type will also give your skin an even and smooth texture making your skin appear clear.

How to Apply Setting Powder Correctly?

Step 1: Prep

Keeping the basics in mind, start by cleaning your face with a suitable gentle cleanser to remove all impurities. Apply a nourishing moisturizer to hydrate the skin, especially dry skin so that your makeup doesn't get flaky and peel-off.

Step 2: Apply Base Makeup

Once the moisturizer has absorbed, apply primer to your skin to fill in pores, fine lines and reduce skin texture. This will help with the foundation application and give your base a smooth and even finish. Follow it up with a foundation and blend it in completely into your skin in an even layer.

Step 3: Apply Powder

Now it's time to set your face up with your fav powder. When using a loose powder, pour some product out on a makeup tray or on the lid and use a brush to lightly dust it on your face in circular motions.

If using a pressed powder, simply rub the sponge on the surface or swirl a brush on it to take the product on. Start applying the powder from the centre of your face in an outwards direction.

When using a sponge avoid rubbing it on your skin as it can wipe away the foundation on your skin.
